Skinnyskinny, Wembe and Saipua :: Brooklyn’s Soapy Natural Offerings

I’m calling it now-  Brooklyn, NY has officially become the capital of chic natural soap. With ultra-hip natural brands skinnyskinny, Wembe and Saipua all hailing from the NYC borough, it’s enough to make you wonder what sudsy offering will launch next! All three brands get it right with ingredients (olive oil, shea butter, essential oils) and packaging that has just the right stylish touches. These are the soaps that are almost too pretty to unwrap- you know the ones! If you live in Brooklyn, you’re not far from the new skinnyskinny flagship store (which offers pet products, body oil, bath salts and other great finds) - or the newly renovated, soon to be reopened Saipua boutique (known for its to-die-for flower arrangements). Trust me, you’ll want to take advantage of your location and make a trip to both destinations! My picks at skinnyskinny include the Organic Coriander and Lemon and the Organic Rosemary and Mint (which can also be used as a shampoo) soaps - choose six and have skinnyskinny put them into their unique book box for a lovely gift! Wembe’s soaps are inspired by the Amazon rainforest and are handmade in Paraguay from organic, locally-grown materials. I love their detoxifying Organic Yerba Mate Exfoliating Bar. Order three from their online site and they’ll arrive wrapped neatly in a brown paper box. Saipua is known for its gorgeous soap blends (I’m a fan of the tea scents like chai, green tea and rooibos). Their Coffee Mint soap bar is fragrant and functional- it’s great for getting rid of scents left on your hands while cooking or gardening.  Whichever brand suits you best, it’s clear that luxe soaps are back- Brooklyn-style. These aren’t the relics you remember from your Grandmother’s powder room! Writer :: Jolene Hart

Mmm, these sound delicious. There are so many amazing choices in organic soap now, and it’s a perfect stocking stuffer. I love the picture you’ve posted too– so luscious.
