Physical Exfoliators :: Instant, Post-Workout Skin Renewal

terralina-exfoliator-1

After a vigorous, circulation-boosting cardio workout, it feels amazing to exfoliate and really make the most of your glow.  It’s the ideal time to call upon a good (but gentle) scrubbing exfoliator. If you’re a new fan of Terralina (check out our earlier post here), you’ll be excited to hear that the brand finally released their new Gentle Facial Exfoliator- and it was worth the wait!  I especially love the creamy base that washes away without a trace of sticky film. I’ve also been testing the light Bamboo Exfoliant from Zia (winner of a Best Exfoliant award from Natural Health magazine) and John Masters Organics Jojoba & Ginseng Exfoliating Face Cleanser. All three are physical exfoliants, meaning they contain tiny, scrubbing grains (finely ground olive pits, rice bran and jojoba beads, respectively). They’re also antioxidant-rich and contain soothing ingredients that balance their exfoliating properties. Although many brands say that their physical exfoliants can be used every day, they’re really best used no more than 2-3 times each week. Scrubbing too often risks sensitivity and redness- the opposite of glow! Give one of these a try next time you work out- especially if your skin is calling out for a little renewal. You’ll love the results! Writer :: Jolene Hart

oh, I wash my face daily and scrub with a flannel. Is this going to maximise pore visibility? -just picking up on your comment about not over exfoliating…

Dena,
Do you mean that you use a cloth to scrub while you wash? If so, you should be in no danger of enlarging your pores. One thing you might watch for is redness and sensitivity from scrubbing- though it sounds like that’s not a problem. Enlarged pores are more a product of clogged pores (ie: not enough natural cell turnover)and excess oil.

Ok, so the best thing for minimizing pore visibility is making sure your skin is clean and getting good cell renewal i.e. eating anti oxidant rich foods and exfoliating?
