What’s the first product you apply to a freshly-cleansed face? Of course, the answer is different for everyone, depending on the day and the time. But I’m currently fixated on finding the most amazing natural products (no way that there’s just one answer to this question) to apply right after I cleanse. And I’d love to hear your picks! I just can’t get enough of the feeling of a clean, pampered and prepped face, especially during warmer months when cell turnover is high and skin just glows, makeup free. One current favorite that’s going to stick around in my repertoire for a very long time is Kimberly Sayer Organic Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer with SPF 25. For anyone who might still be a bit averse to applying an SPF to a sensitive face, this gentle, light-as-air lotion is quick to convert. Your skin absorbs this formula like a thirsty plant soaks up water, with no trace of grease or heaviness (two of my pet peeves). Suki Facial Lift Ultimate Firming Crème is a serious natural splurge, but it scores incredibly high for its feel, smell andscience. While I may not be in the ‘facial lift’ demographic yet, I see nothing wrong with getting on board with the resveratrol in this product right away. For those of you not familiar, resveratrol is an antioxidant (also found in red wine and the skin of dark grapes) that fights cell damage and slows aging- a true beauty fountain of youth! I’ve also become quite addicted to applying facial oil- just 3-4 drops to a clean, dry face. My pick is Pangea Organics Balancing Oil, for its polyphenol-rich pomegranate oil base and mega-dose of antioxidants. It’s a little heavier than the Kimberly Sayer and Suki lotions, but feels deeply nourishing and leaves my skin looking healthy and supple. What’s your favorite product to apply after cleansing? I cleanse with Ren’s Rosa Centifolia wash and apply Pratima Neem Rose Face Sunscreen SPF 30 in the morning. it’s so lightweight and absorbs great, but uses only zinc oxide (w/ no whiteness!)so its super safe and gentle on my ridiculously sensitive skin. it’s also kind of pearlescent so it makes my skin glow without being greasy. at night i use the same wash but i use the accompanying Ren Rose Complex Moisturizer. it’s not heavy, it absorbs great and leaves my skin fresh, healthy, and glowing
Comment by Elizabeth July 16, 2009 @ 8:19 pmThe Pratima sunscreen sounds gorgeous- I love the idea of a little natural pearlescence! I’ve been meaning to check out more of their products- thanks for the tip!
Comment by Jolene Hart July 17, 2009 @ 3:22 pmThanks Jolene, for the useful information. Yes, these pests can easily spoil a nice evening outdoors. But getting rid of them has its own problems as well when you are not sure what chemicals are in the spray that you’re using. So an organic solution to this problem is extremely a good thing. Now we can say good bye to bugs and chemicals at the same time.
Thanks for the wonderful information!
