When The New York Times tells us that buying pink clothes and accessories is comforting in hard times (apparently we feel much better shelling out for a pink skirt than a green one), I can’t help but wonder just how this translates to beauty. A soft pink blush, a sweet rosy gloss and a pale petal shadow certainly signal beauty at its freshest. And maybe in beauty terms, pure, healthy, close-to-bare makeup gives us that same sort of all-is-right-with-the-world comfort. What do you think? Either way, it’s spring and we all need a pink pick-me-up. Here are a few beautiful, natural shades of pink makeup that you’ll feel good buying and look even better wearing: 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented blush in Plum: bright pink pigment so cheeks only need a light dusting! SukiColor Pure Cream Stain in Sandstone: a must-try multitasker that covers lips, cheeks and lids! Nvey Eco Organic Powder blush in Pale Pink: a cool tone that’s soft on fair skin. Afterglow Organic Mineral eye shadow in Tender: lightly shimmering and perfect for the inner corners of your lids. Almay Pure Blends eye shadow in Petal: cool cardboard compact and a drugstore formula that’s also 98.2% natural (no parabens or phthalates to speak of). Jane Iredale PureGloss in Candied Rose: like the name suggests, you’ll look like you’ve had a pink lollipop. Josie Maran Sweet Fingerpaints palette in Sweet: okay, there are only two true pinks in this lip/cheek/eye palette, but all four shades will get you that barely-there look! Writer :: Jolene Hart
