As a sun worshipper many years ago, who giddily slapped on coconut oil and eagerly awaited the burn I’d get after hours of baking, I’m now suffering the effects of too much exposure. The greatest cause of skin damage including premature aging, discoloration, fine lines, pigmentation, is the sun. Period. Free-radicals are formed with over exposure which run rampant, cause havoc and breakdown the very structure of skin, which leads to all of the above. Ah, if only I’d listened to my mother admonishing my bad sun habits! Too late for hindsight, but not too late for some enlightenment. Aveda are about to release a new skincare line called Enbrightenment, an entire line containing a plant-powered, skin brightening blend. Formulated to diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation & dark spots, these products work to visibly enhance radiance & tone. As a sneak preview, Organic Beauty View are giving away the Brightening Intensive Massage Masque to one lucky reader. All you have to do is share your own sun story, connected to why you should win this. We’ll select a winner one week from now, so go to it! I would love to try this new product. I always had “perfect” skin up until I became pregnant. I developed the “pregnancy mask” and have struggled with it ever since. My skin pigmentation has changed and you can see all my sun spots and still spots from my pregnancy mask. I try hard to not look like a “mom” and want to continue to take care of myself and look more like the hot mama, but my skin sometimes makes it hard. I am defintely interested in this product.
Comment by Christy February 10, 2009 @ 8:24 pmI didn’t listen to warnings either. I started noticing little spots on my face a few months ago. I know it’s from the sun. I have tried a lot of stuff but I still have them. I am hoping they don’t get bigger because right now they are like freckles but not any bigger than that. I would love to try this and see if it will lighten them up a little.
Comment by carogonza February 10, 2009 @ 10:19 pmWhat an amazing new product line. Aveda is always working up the best. I know I have never listened to the warnings. Living in Brazil for a year I would be outside almost every day and only put on protection when I’d be at the beach. Not smart. I noticed that my skin is very pigmented and uneven now. Even in the dead of winter, I have the hardest time even getting my skin to be even with concealer. I’d love to have the massage masque to help put my skin back on the right path.
Comment by Sarah February 11, 2009 @ 1:35 amMy sun story starts back from when I was in my first year of college. I was at the time living in an apartment with acne prone skin, so that was not the greatest time in my life. During that time I was put in Retin A and some pills, which I cannot thin of the name at the time. While I never read the warning signs of using these products, which now I wish that I would have because I would have not layed out in the sun by the pool for a couple of hours. I have light olive skin, but still mixing the sun with something as strong and powerful as Retin A would cause anyone to break out in a rash and become very itchy like I was. It lasted for almost a week and I still to this day can remember how hot, red, and bumpy by body was. Thankfully I learned my lesson and now can say that I do not use those products anymore, but I think because of using them and my incident, my face has not looked the same. I have yet to find something that would “Enlighten” my face, so it would be wonderful to try this line out. And especially now as I am 2 months pregnant and am noticing my face changing more and more, it would be nice to find something that would help my out. Thank you for this giveaway and best of luck to all!!
Comment by Julie February 11, 2009 @ 2:28 amI grew up in Tampa Fla and had a deep dark tan my whole childhood. I’m very fair scotch-irish/english. I developed melasma in 2004 from bc pills and I no longer take them. I tried two tca chemical peels, alpha/beta hydroxy acids, salicid acid, malic, mandelic, hydroquione and several types of lasers. Nothing works. I used to go to a tanning bed and I’m sure that didn’t help. I love so many aveda hair products and so does my whole family. Want to try a new skincare line. Help!

In fact, so good I wish we could give everyone something from the Enbrightenment collection – but alas, only one person can win and that person is Julie!
