Aftelier Perfumes :: Where Fragrance, Art & Alchemy Converge.

Mandy Aftel has been described variously as, “one of the great living masters of natural perfume,” (Affluent Lifestyle Mag), “the Angel of Alchemy”, (Vanity Fair) and “Couture fragrance … one of Hollywood’s chicest secrets,” (Vogue). We’ll simply call her, “Olfactory Alchemy Genius.” Working out of her ‘Aftelier Perfumes’ store, Aftel is most notable for the creation of covetable bespoke scents, but she also has her own fragrance collection for those who can’t afford her (arguably) more illustrious talents. Believing that synthetic essences have no complexity, mystery or emotional intensity, she hand blends from a selection of more than 500 essences that have been sourced from all around the globe. Intel :: The Formidable Landscape Of Modern Organic Beauty.

If you recall I recently wrote about the emergence of a phenomenal number of organic & natural beauty products – 800 last year alone to be exact. That figure in and of itself is pretty impressive but more compelling for me is the way the formulation landscape is changing… dramatically. Gone are the days and the mindset of conventional wisdom dictating that if you use natural or organic skincare you’re selling yourself short somehow in the anti-aging stakes. If you didn’t already see it coming, consider yourself now informed. With all the revolutionary discoveries being made in green chemistry and an increasingly complex understanding of how to impact the very structure of skin, we’re entering a new era of high-tech, performance-driven, results-focused organic skincare, designed to blow the socks off conventional wisdom, once and for all. Want Smooth, Sexy Skin :: This Works Skin Deep Dry Leg Oil.

Kathy Phillips has an impressive pedigree as ex Vogue Beauty Director, and now International Beauty Director for all Conde Nast Asia Fashion Magazines. It should be no surprise then that her own beauty line, This Works, has attracted a string of accolades and awards (Times Best 100 Beauty Products, Instyle Best Body Oil, Marie Claire Prix D’Excellence… you get the picture) not to mention a cult following. Compelled to find out what all the fuss is about I recently tried the Deep Dry Leg Oil and I have to tell you I’m as hooked as everyone else. (more…)

California Leads The Way :: A Less Toxic Future For Beauty.

Amidst much debate and scepticism from all sides over the latest green chemistry legislation, Arnold Schwarzenegger has vowed to remove politics from the evaluation of disputed chemicals in our personal care products. Having introduced two new bills that effectively prevent lobby groups and political or self-interests from dominating research, he’s handed over scientific control to the CA Dept For Toxic Substances Control. Charged with ensuring they act in the best interests of consumers, they’re not just identifying (once and for all one would hope) ingredients that are suspect, they’re developing a new science-based code to track, analyze and evaluate alternatives. Added to that will be a new database that clearly identifies and describes for consumers what to look out for, what’s truly safe and what’s not. (more…)

Snowberry :: An Antipodes Skincare Wonderland.

All the way from the ‘Land Of The Long White Cloud’ aka New Zealand, comes a gorgeous new skincare line called Snowberry. The genius graphics were created by a well-known London artist who works with collages in bright colors to piece together cute, simple, uncontrived imagery. The formulations were a unique collaboration between the founder, Soraya Hendesi, and Chief Scientist Andy Lavrent who is a bio chemist deeply experienced in designing natural delivery systems, but also a highly skilled chef at heart. As Lavrent says, “Developing cosmetics is a lot like creating a superb dish – it requires real passion and flair. Taking the most interesting ingredients from around the world to create something very special.”  With no less than 130 exotic & beneficial ingredients we can’t wait to see if it lives up to the exciting expectations the story suggests. Not available on these shores yet – watch out, it’ll be here in no time! Writer :: Emma Pezzack – www.futurenatural.com: the best organic beauty products in the world.

New Organic Scentsation :: Misaki From Tsi-La.

It’s no secret we loooooove Tsi-La Fragrances and their brand new scent is no exception to that lovefest. Misaki doesn’t have a specific launch date yet but we’re predicting it will sell like hotcakes when it hits shelves later this fall. Seductive, warm and inviting, Misaki is a delicious and sophisticated fusion of French lavender, warm tea, Italian bergamot, crushed mint, green tree moss, Tahitian vanilla orchid, and delicate neroli nectar infused with flower extracts that create a gentle organic fragrance saturated in tranquility and depth. All of this is combined with the antioxidant benefits of organic Goji berry, organic persimmon, organic red tea with moisturizing organic honey, in a base of pink orchid extracts & organic alcohol. We were amazed by the complexity of notes and warmth this fragrance induced & must confess it was head over heels at first inhale. With over 95% organic & 100% natural content with absolutely nothing harmful. We’re sold. Writer :: Emma Pezzack – www.futurenatural.com: the best organic beauty products in the world.
